Massachusetts First Time Home Buyer Programs and Resources

If you are a potential first time home buyer in Massachusetts, we welcome you! It is our utmost desire to assist you in reaching the goal of buying your first home. We've gathered the most helpful, beneficial resources together on this page to make things as easy as possible for you.

You won't find a lot of ads, nor will you find a lot of fluff, just lots and lots of helpful first time home buyer information. If you haven't done so already, we suggest you visit our home page where you'll find a 16 step guide to buying your first home. Whether you realize it or not, you will accomplish each of the 16 steps listed, but you'll save time and avoid costly mistakes by simply using the information provided there. You can find our home page by clicking here: First Time Home Buyer.

We suggest you make those 16 steps your personal checklist for buying your first home. If so, be sure to bookmark the site so you can refer back to it often.

While you are working on those 16 steps, you'll also want to check what is available for first time home buyer financial programs in Massachusetts. The first place to start in that search is the Massachusetts Housing Authority. They provide generous assistance to first time home buyers in the form of grants to help with the down payment as well as closing costs.

The Massachusetts Housing Authority also provides funding to developers, non-profit organizations and communities to assist first time homebuyers. When developers and builders use this type of public financing for their projects, it always comes with strings attached. These are usually stipulations that the developer sell a certain amount of homes at below market prices for those with a lower income and first time home buyers. Check and see what is available.

You will also find links to local housing authorities, each also providing assistance in their area. You can find that information at the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development housing assistance page by clicking here.

If you are in or around Boston, the Boston Home Center has great homebuyer education classes available as well as information on credit counseling and repair, information on the various loan and/or grant programs for the purchase or repair of a home,  applications for various properties being sold by the city to income eligible, first time home buyers. You can visit the Boston Home Center by clicking here.

We will be adding more resources to this page as we discover them and/or they become available to first time home buyers in Massachusetts, so please do bookmark this site and check back often! In the meantime, please do look around and get the most of the information that is here...
